Chamomile derives from the Greek word chamaimēlon, which translates to “earth apple.” It’s so called because of the fresh apple-like scent of the plant. Ancient Egyptians used this mainstay herb to honor the gods and embalm the dead. In Europe, chamomile has been used in wellness traditions since the 1st century AD.*
