Mugwort is a common name for several species of aromatic plants in the genus Artemisia. In Europe, mugwort most often refers to the species Artemisia vulgaris, or common mugwort. While other species are sometimes referred to by more specific common names, they may be called simply "mugwort" in many contexts. It is also found in Japan and Japanese mugwort is known as yomogi. Mugworts are used medicinally, especially in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean traditional medicine. Some mugworts have also found a use in modern medicine. They are also used as an herb to flavor food. In Korea, mugworts were also used for plain, non-medicinal consumption; in South Korea, mugworts, called ssuk, are still used as a staple ingredient in many dishes including rice cakes and soup.

Mugwort contains volatile oil, flavonoids, a sesquiterpene lactone, coumarin derivatives and triterpenes. It is recommended for people who want to cleanse the body. When added to the bath, it relieves the effects of rheumatic disease and its intense aroma has a relaxing effect.

Can be used to prevent or along with other herbs end an unwanted pregnancy.

A “whole herb” would technically include all parts, roots, bark, stems, leaves, flowers and fruit of the plant and have been used for hundreds of years by many cultures.
Whole herbs may be consumed fresh or preserved (usually dried) whole herbs.
In fact, modern medicine originated with the use of whole herbs.
The medicinal properties of herbs have been learned through empirical observation and the information has been passed down through successive generations of healers.
Because the preparation process is relatively simple, whole herbs also tend to be less expensive than other forms.
